Morpeth Weddings
Congratulations!!!

Please allow a team of dedicated, friendly, down to earth people to pamper you, your family & friends -
on your special day.
Shayne Harris Dynamic Images, Morpeth.
Morpeth is a small village that sits above an elbow in the Hunter River, just 10 minutes from Maitland, 30 minutes from Newcastle, 40 minutes from Port Stephens Blue Water Wonderland and Pokolbin Wine Country, 50 minutes from Central Coast and 1.5 hours from Sydney.

Morpeth is a village with boundless charm and character, unforgettable hospitality, the finest fashion, art & distinctive crafts, fabulous restaurants & boutique function centres - all in a settlement that is steeped in Australian colonial history. In a five minute walk down Morpeth's main street, or over a cup of fresh brewed coffee and homemade pie, you will be able to organise your entire Wedding Day.

In fact there is much more to Morpeth than you could ever experience in a day.

Even if you tried, it's leisurely pace and lifestyle would soon convince you to slow down, and to take in and taste every element of the charm that is this village of 1100 people.

A walk along Morpeth's main street is to have your sense of smell aroused by the aroma of freshly brewed coffee, the delicate bouquet of a selected tea, or perhaps the mouth watering smell of fresh bread baking.

Cafes and tea shops are located in gardens or in crannies down small cobblestone alleyways.
Morpeth...
We Dare You to See it in a Day!
Menus in cafes and eateries feature dishes that use and emphasise local fare, some of it is grown or produced in gardens and paddocks you can see through the window as you dine. Many dishes are "home made" and fresh from the oven, presented in a distinctive style and in an atmosphere of warmth and friendliness. Be sure to sample Morpeth's famous Gramma or Lemon Meringue Pie for dessert.

An enquiry of the chef or proprietor might result in a favourite recipe being shared.

Morpeth provides you with the Ultimate Shopping Experience. Wander at your leisure through 63 individual quality art, craft, gift, fashion, antique and collectible shops. Be sure to discover each and every one. Take home gifts for all your family and friends, many of which cannot be bought anywhere else.

Smell the wafting aroma of freshly baked fudge, taste some for free, cuddle an old fashioned teddy bear, try on a leather hat and matching jacket, select a room full of rustic furniture, then exquisite linen and a painting to match.

Taste gourmet goodies such as jams, mustards, pickles and sauces - just like grandma used to make. Lose yourself in men's and ladies fashions. Free tastings of fudge, ginger beer and honey make the taste buds water.

In Morpeth, Craftspeople have retained skills of post industry, such jewellery making, lace and broom making. On alternate weekends these skills are demonstrated to visitors.

Morpeth hosts frequent festivals - about one a month - and many of these have themes.

Festival themes include the Morpeth Jazz Festival, 12-14th September 2003, Art & Craft Exhibitions - Meet the Artist Weekend 8th & 9th March 2003, Hunter Craft Affair 7th - 9th March 2003, Heritage Festival with 49 individual events including Morpeth Fiery Food Festival, part of Hunter Steamfest - 12th & 13th April 2003 and Novelty events such as Morpeth Novelty Teapot, Teddy Bear, Vintage Farm Machinery and Honey Festival.
The festivals typically run from the Friday night to the Sunday evening, filling accommodation in B and B's throughout Morpeth, motels in Maitland and surrounding district and in farmstay cottages in the area. It always pays to book early for Morpeth at festival time.

In Morpeth's two historic hotels (there used to be 18 Inns in Morpeth's hey day) and Bowling Club, you will meet locals who quench their thirst after working on the farms around the district.
Pamper yourself by staying a while longer in the self contained or hosted accommodation of Historic Houses and Rural settings at Morpeth and its surrounding area Bed and Breakfasts. Imagine going to sleep in a luxurious room and waking up to peaceful tranquillity and a hearty breakfast with country charm.

Morpeth area B & B's make the perfect base from which to strike out on a day trip to the vineyards of Pokolbin or the Upper Hunter, the mountains and forests of the Barringtons, the golden beaches and sheltered swimming and sailing of Port Stephens.
Morpeth has a living history in its buildings and in the ambience of the town. In the early days of the colony, it was a major commercial port and Morpeth was a bigger settlement than Melbourne. Many buildings in the main street date from the 1840's.

Many famous Australian Companies had their beginnings in Morpeth, household names such as Arnotts, of biscuit fame, Brambles a major transport company, and Caleb Soul who started the Soul-Pattinson Pharmacy chain. You can find out more about these Australian icons by visiting the Morpeth Courthouse Museum or taking yourself on a Village walk,

using a map available in the village to point out all the sites of Historical significance.

Landscaped parks overlook the Hunter River and the farmlands of the fertile Hunter Valley. The Morpeth common is a popular picnic and barbecue spot. On weekends, the cricket and football oval hosts home games for local sport teams.
The river is popular for fishing, skiing, power boating and rowing. The Hunter Valley Grammar School has a practice stretch along the Hunter River at Morpeth.

Morpeth is delightful at any time of the year. Each season gives the village its own distinctive mood, and the relaxed pace of life is consistent throughout the year.

In fact, one of the reasons it is so difficult to see all Morpeth has to offer in one day is because its relaxed mood will soon seduce you into forgetting the rush of everyday life elsewhere.
